My finished college magazine contents page

The colours I used for this contents page are the same as those used on the 'Men's Fitness' contents page. I think the purple of the main box and the bold black lines compliment each other. Obviously if this was a real contents page there wouldn't be gray boxes but instead photographs, which would make the page more colourful. There are two stamp like red boxes on the page which tell the audience that there are specials in the magazines. These are important because they draw attention and make the magazine look like it has more to offer. There are strong compositional patterns of both horizontal and vertical lines. There are a lot of strong lines and the only curves are from the writing. The makes the page appear more ordered which is a positive point in a contents page. In the center of the frame is the photographs however my eyes start at the top of the page. If the photographs were present my eyes would probably look at them next before going to the writing down the right side of the page.
The largest writing on the page is the title of the magazine and the month it was released. There are then smaller headings for the contents sections and then finally even smaller writing for the description of the sections. Most of the writing on the page is in black however the section titles are white so they stand out against the purple. There is then some red writing over the photographs. The captions for the photographs are black at the moment however they may have to change colour depending on what colour the photographs were. The title of the magazine has a black outline but is mainly white which makes it look more significant. All of the writing in the contents part of the page were things the audience questionnaire found people wanted in their magazine.
I think the most successful element of this page is the actual layout. I think this because it's very organised and clear to read. The least successful is probably the fonts I used as I wasn't able to find ones that were exactly the same as the ones on the page I was looking at.
There were a few things I learnt by doing this task. First of all I again learnt more on Photoshop as there were things I needed to do for this page that I hadn't had to do for the cover. This meant I got to learn how to use different tools and features of the programme. Also I learnt how to use information from a questionnaire in a way that was helpful for the progress of the magazine.
